Make Girl Scouts part of your schedule!
Attend Girl Scouts annual sign-up event on Sept. 10
HOUSTON (Aug. 1, 2011) – Girl Scouts don’t let TV dominate their schedules; they fill their time with fun, friends and adventure, and so can you.
All girls in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in fun, interactive activities and learn about the endless opportunities of Girl Scouting during the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council’s (GSSJC) annual open house. The free event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Girl Scout Center (main building) located at 3110 Southwest Freeway in Houston. Adults 18 and older are also invited to learn about volunteering opportunities.
Don’t just dream about dancing, singing, sailing and riding horses. Join the Girl Scout’s Green Starlettes drill team, the Take Note choir, the Mariners sailing program or the SPURS horseback riding program. Annual membership dues are just $12.
Volunteering opportunities are open to women and men 18 years and older who accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. From being a troop leader to volunteering in short-term or interest-specific activities, the opportunities are limitless for caring adults who truly want to make a difference in the life of a girl.
Girls and adults will also have the unique opportunity to sign the Girl Scout birthday card and wish the Girl Scouts happy birthday on its video diary. In addition, anyone who joins will have the chance to attend Girl Scouts of the USA’s National Convention in November, which kicks-off the organization’s centennial.
In addition to the open house, GSSJC is holding membership recruitment rallies throughout Angelina, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller and Wharton counties. To find a rally near you, visit www.gssjc.org and click on “Join Us” or call 713-292-0300 or 1-800-392-4340.
