Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council welcomes Cathy Mann to the board of directors

HOUSTON (June 27, 2011) – Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council welcomes Cathy Mann as a member-at-large to the Council’s board of directors, effective June 1. Mann assumes her two-year term to the board as the Council prepares to host the 52nd National Convention of Girl Scouts of the USA in November 2011, which kicks-off the 100th anniversary celebration of Girl Scouting in the United States.

“The board is proud to have Cathy serving our organization,” said Board Chair and President Ellen DeSanctis. “With her many accomplishments, we know she will do great things.”

Mann is the director of corporate affairs and marketing at Halliburton DBS and vice president and secretary of Halliburton Foundation Inc. She serves on the GSSJC Development Committee and on the board of directors for The Unit Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization that awards merit-based scholarships to the families of fallen special operations soldiers.

Mann has earned the Bronze Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Excalibur Award from the Public Relations Society of America, and Best of Texas and Silver Spur honors from the Texas Public Relations Association. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and is also a graduate of Halliburton’s 2008 President’s Leadership Excellence Program. Currently she is finishing her MBA at Rice University.
