Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council Welcomes New Board Treasurer

Steve RichterHOUSTON (June 1, 2010) – Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council welcomes Steve Richter, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Weingarten Realty Investors, as the Council’s new treasurer effective June 1. Richter assumes his role as the Council prepares to host the 52nd National Convention of Girl Scouts of the USA in November 2011, a celebration that is also expected to launch the 100th anniversary celebration of Girl Scouting in the United States. Richter has served on the Council’s board of directors since 2009.

In his role, Richter will help provide strategic guidance and leadership to one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country, with more than 72,000 girls served and 17,000 adult volunteers across 26 southeast Texas counties.

Richter is a graduate from Sam Houston State University with a BBA in Accounting; he is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Richter is active in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), the National Association of Real Estate Companies (NAREC), where he served as past officer and director, and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is also a Senior Fellow in the American Leadership Forum.
