Membership rallies to be held across southeast Texas

HOUSTON (Aug. 15, 2008) – Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) is holding membership recruitment rallies this Fall across 26 southeast Texas counties, including: Angelina, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller and Wharton.

Girl Scouts is the premier leadership organization for girls ages 5 to 17. Through programs that include science and technology, business and economic literacy, visual arts, and outdoor and environmental awareness, Girl Scouting encourages girls to discover themselves, connect with others and take action to make the world a better place.

In partnership with committed adults, girls build character and skills to achieve success in the real world − all while having fun! Girls can participate in Girls Scouting in a variety of ways. In addition to the traditional troop program, GSSJC offers many programs and activities throughout the year that do not require troop affiliation, like archery, backpacking, drill team, horseback riding, photography, rock climbing, and more.
