Girl Scouts to Hand Make 100,000 Greeting Cards
For Every Resident of Every Nursing Home in Texas
Media Advisory

WHO:                   Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, with over 50,000 girl members, will host Girl Scout Day at Six Flags Astroworld, where Girl Scouts in attendance will make, by hand, 'Thinking of You' Cards for EVERY RESIDENT OF EVERY NURSING HOME IN TEXAS!!!! Tables will be set up just outside the front gate for Girl Scouts to make and deliver cards. Six Flags Astroworld will be closed to the general public to give Girl Scouts a day of fun with friends and family.

WHAT: This is the kick-off event for Girl Scouts across the state of Texas to participate in the Adopt-A-Nursing Home Program. According TDHS Director of Volunteer and Community Services Sharon Zambrzycki, nearly 60% of all nursing home residents do not receive visitors, let alone handmade cards. Imagine the smiles and happy tears these cards will bring to so many faces. A Girl Scout tradition in the Council, Girl Scout Day at Six Flags Astroworld is a day to learn about Girl Scout History with special exhibits, view performances from the Green Starlettes, the official council drill team, and Kids On the Block, special life-sized puppets that promote and teach diversity and pluralism, and VIRTUALLY NO WAIT FOR THEIR FAVORITE RIDES!!!
